Director, National Reconnaissance Office
General Carlson is appointed as the 17th director of the National Reconnaissance Office. Prior to his appointment, after retiring from the United States Air Force, he served on the Board of Directors of EADS North America. Previously, Carlson served as commander, Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio; and commander, 8th Air Force, Barksdale AFB, La., and Joint Functional Component Commander for Space and Global Strike, United States Strategic Command, Offutt AFB, Neb. Carlson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, and a Master of Arts degree from Webster University, St. Louis, Mo.
