The Space Foundation is developing the next generation of space professionals - and building the overall technological strength of the nation - through a wide variety of programs that stimulate students' interest and skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
The Space Foundation, in partnership with the Astronauts Memorial Foundation and NASA, annually presents the Alan Shepard Technology in Education Award in a continuing effort to recognize outstanding contributions by K-12 educators and district level personnel in the field of educational technology.
The Space Foundation provides several programs held in conjunction with the National Space Symposium, which focus on the future of the aerospace industry. Audience with an Astronaut is aimed at elementary and middle schoolers, while Exhibit Center Tours are for high school students.
Teacher Liaisons are nationally recognized as space and science education advocates, serving as an active link between their school/district, NASA, and the Space Foundation. Teacher Liaisons receive many privileges, participate in special activities, and receive specialized training at Space Foundation and NASA workshops.
he Space Foundation invites students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, or equivalent, throughout the world to enter original artwork depicting the theme "Space is Infinite -- Explore!" for an opportunity to receive national recognition and to win prizes, and an invitation to attend an awards ceremony at the 28th National Space Symposium next April in Colorado Springs, Colo.
